Jon Haire for the U S House of Representatives 36th District

My name is Jonathan “Jon” Haire. I am a retired Oak Ridge National Laboratory scientist running for the Texas 36thCongressional District (CD-36).  I believe in doing things for “the common good,” i.e. creating conditions to everyone’s advantage.    

Healthcare  

 Healthcare should be accessible and affordable for everyone. 

Coronavirus   

 We must follow the guidance of healthcare professionals to eliminate COVID-19.    Infrastructure  

Texans want a reliable electricity supply system, expanded Internet services, and flood protection.             

Education and Jobs    

  Our children are our nation’s future, and their education is paramount to this country’s long-term success.   

Why I’m Running?  I am running for the Texas 36th Congressional District seat because our country’s democracy is in danger.  Extreme right-wing politicians are working to overthrow the results of the last presidential election.  Their followers assaulted our elected officials in the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, turning the debate from words and ideas to violence. Eighteen states have passed laws restricting our voting rights.  Truly, our democracy is in peril.
