Whiticar Boat Yard, located in Stuart, and Fort Pierce Florida, has been in operation since 1947. Today, John Whiticar and Jim Dragseth continue the decades-long tradition and quality of building some of the best yachts in the boating industry started by their fathers. The company has thrived and survived by offering only quality products.
Whiticar Boat Works has taken steps to meet the needs of the boating community by branching out and establishing other divisions. These include Shearwater Marine in 1996, Whiticar Custom Boats in 2000, Whiticar North in 2003.
"The Boomer" built by Whiticar in 2005 is 76 ft. long with a 21 ft. beam and a displacement of 130,000 lbs. powered by twin MTU 16D-2000 – 2000 hp diesel engines with a top speed of 34 knots. The hull is cold molded mahogany with fiberglass skins inside and out. The deckhouse and bridge are composite fiberglass and foam using the infused resin method.
The customer can count on the company to uphold its reputation and standing behind each yacht they build and sell. Whiticar employs a professional and curious crew to provide knowledge and pride that results in a job well-done and satisfied customers.
Whiticar knows that no two boaters are the same and require the same boat or have the same boating needs, this is where the company stands out from others. Their team has an average of 28 years or marine experience for each employee, so each boat receives the ultimate treatment and attention down to every last detail.
The company is also known for its friendly family atmosphere. Whiticar considers every employee, employee's family and each customer part of the Whiticar family and the company treats them all with the gracious attitude that the company is known to offer.
Recently, Whiticar partnered with Peter Landeweer to come up with new ideas, so the pair has been working on building boats together. Since this is a partnership, both parties will need to sign off before any building begins on the new designs.
Currently, the company is hard at work on two new projects. The Whiticar 63' and 72'. The Whiticar 72' will have a four-stateroom, four-head layout as well as a full salon, galley and large cockpit with a mezzanine. The Whiticar 63' is still on the drawing board, but like previous Whiticar models, these two will offer both beauty and speed for a perfect yachting experience.
