History of Oceanco Yachts
The history of Oceanco Yachts begins in South Africa, where a group of private investors began yacht-building operations under the guidance of their CEO, Richard Hein, in 1987. The hulls and superstructures were built in South Africa and then transported to facilities in the Netherlands where the finishing touches were complete.
The transformation of Oceanco Yachts to what it is today didn’t begin until the company consolidated its operations. Acquiring a facility in Alblasserdam, they moved all manufacturing activities into the Netherlands. As the size of yachts and luxury creations continued to grow, so did their reputation. In 2002, Greek steel and shipping magnate Theodore Angelopoulos took over the company and created a new course for the superyacht manufacturer. He introduced a new building strategy focusing on 80-plus meter superyachts called the “Y Generation.” These yachts embodied luxury, pleasing aesthetics, and leading-edge technology, receiving numerous awards for quality craftsmanship that Oceanco is still known for today.
Throughout the years, their highly personalized approach to customer relationships and innovative design and technology traits allow them to create one-of-a-kind yachts that respect the vision of both the designer and owner. In addition, Oceanco is conscious of the environmental impact of building, owning, and operating a large yacht. They are continuously studying and improving methods and equipment to surpass any legislative initiatives. Oceanco also offers continued support after the sale, ready to ensure that every yacht operates at 100%, one hundred percent of the time.
